Hermosillo, Sonora, August 31, 2020.- Maribel Ávila Sánchez’s proposal was the winner of the FotoSonora 2020 Poster Contest, an image festival to be held online during the months of September and October.
Alina Esperanza Martínez Ceballos, head of the Visual Arts department of the Sonoran Institute of Culture (ISC), highlighted that they have launched this invitation for three years to motivate the participation of professionals, amateurs and the general public with an interest in graphic design, illustration and image in general.
“This year we doubled the participation of other years, very good proposals were received according to what the jury comments and as a result we have not only a winning poster for this year’s edition of FotoSonora 2020 but also recognition of other valuable works by poster; for the Sonoran Institute of Culture it has been important to continue strengthening the work of design and illustration in the state and it shows with the participation in this edition ”, he said.
The Sonoran Institute of Culture will allocate as a single prize the amount of $ 15,000.00 (fifteen thousand pesos 100/00 MN), in addition to public recognition in face-to-face, blended or virtual ceremony, according to current provisions.
According to the jury, Maribel Ávila Sánchez’s proposal offers, based on surprising graphic resources, the integration of the human element with the Sonoran vegetation and technology, an adequate typography, the correct use of colors, thereby achieving a look at the Sonoran culture and specifically the Festival FotoSonora 2020
The jury made up of Manuel Guerrero Salinas, Mayra Díaz Ordoñez, Alberto Jorge Rivera Bojórquez, Marianna González Gastélum and Ilse Gabriela López Lugo also decided to award five honorable mentions to Fernando Saldaña, Nubia María Acuña, León Felipe Pacheco, Brenda Rocío Guerrero Zerón and Rubén Hernández Reichelbauman.
