Grandes exponentes en el 13 Festival de la Guitarra de Sonora 2016


From October 24 to 29, the 13th edition of the Sonora International Guitar Festival and the Latin American Contest of Women Guitar Interpreters will be held in Hermosillo, with the participation of musicians from Colombia, Peru, Canada, Venezuela, Italy and Mexico. .
The founder and director of the event, Igor Ávila Soria explained that on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 the contest will be held and from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 the concerts will be in charge of Mariana Argueta (Mexico – winner of the 2015 edition), Mario Arévalo ( Colombia), Mariana Tomei (Italy), Emma Rush (Canada), José Luis Lara with the Venezuelan cuatro (Venezuela) and Los lovers of the bolero (Mexico).
The International Guitar Festival of Sonora has developed a rich variety of activities related to this instrument in various cities of the state: concerts, state and national musical performance competitions, master classes, documentary projections, photography, painting and short story competitions , and conferences.
The objective is to offer spaces for healthy coexistence and cultural development around the guitar, to promote an experience that initiates or reaffirms their taste for music and the arts at its best, and collaborates in the training, updating and professionalization of guitarists local and national.
The allies of this important forum for music: the Government of the State of Sonora, through the Sonoran Institute of Culture, University of Sonora, private initiative, the media and civil society. A special thanks to the Philharmonic Orchestra of Sonora, under the direction of maestro David Hernández Bretón and to the Directorate of Liaison and Diffusion, Communication and Radio Universidad, at Unison.
The concerts will be at the Emiliana Theater in Zubeldia at 8:00 p.m., with a general admission of $ 60.00 pesos and students, teachers and seniors $ 50.00, from Monday to Friday; on Saturday the general cooperation will be $ 100.00.

His next performances will be in Philadelphia (PA), Louisville (KY), Buffalo (NY), in the United States and many concerts in Canada as soloist and chamber music. As a soloist with an orchestra, he will present the Aranjuez Concert with the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra and the Burlington Bay Symphony.
Mario Arevalo (Colombia)
mario-arevalo-colombiaHe began his guitar studies under the direction of teachers Julián Rodríguez Blanco and Ramiro Isaza Mejía. Later he entered the ASAB (Higher Academy of Arts of Bogotá), where he completed his studies with the teacher Pedro Ángel. He is currently undertaking master’s studies in interpretation at the EAFIT University. He has been the winner of the series of university concerts of the Fabio Lozano auditorium, as well as of the series of young interpreters 2010 and 2014 of the BLAA (Bank of the Republic of Colombia) and of the Itinerant Music Cycle of Compensar, among others. His guitar has taken him to countries like Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina and Chile.
José Lui jose-luis-lara-venezuelas Lara (Venezuela)
He shares his activity between interpretation, teaching and composition, he plays the Venezuelan cuatro, the national instrument of his country, focusing his career on the interpretation of Venezuelan and Latin American repertoire. He began the study of cuatro with his father, who encouraged him to study and cultivate Venezuelan music; He began his academic training at the CEMI Conservatory of Musical Studies in Ciudad Guayana, where he studied guitar with professor Richard Morillo and theoretical subjects with maestro Rito Mantilla. He completed his formal studies at the Prudencio Essa Music School in Caracas, Venezuela. He has to his credit a variety of original works, arrangements and harmonizations of Venezuelan popular works; He has made several recordings highlighting his compact disc Caminos, Merengue en Fugaof the Márquez-Lara Duo, which he integrates together with the maestro Enrique Márquez and three productions with the Orinoco Ensemble. He has recitals in various countries in Latin America, Europe, China and the United States of America, highlighting his participation as a soloist, jury and teacher in important national and international festivals.
Marina Tomei (Italy)
Guitarist originally from Rom marina-tomei-italya. Along with his classical-literary studies, he began teaching guitar with maestro Bruno Battisti D’Amario, the historic guitarist of Ennio Morricone. She continued her academic studies in Florence, as a fellow at the Conservatorio di Musica “Luigi Cherubini”, with maestro Francesco Cuoghi.

She is currently a guitar teacher at the Faculty of Music of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), where she is conducting her Master’s studies in musical performance as a fellow, under the instrumental guidance of Pablo Garibay and Juan Carlos Laguna.

Mariana Argueta Pérez (Mexico)
mariana-argueta-mexicoGuitarist born in 1991. He began his musical studies at the age of 12, at the Yamaha Academy, under the tutelage of maestro Carlos A. Valenzuela. Since 2008 he has been studying the preparatory and undergraduate cycle at the National School of Music of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he is currently studying the third year of his degree in the chair of the renowned teacher and guitarist Juan Carlos Laguna Millán. He has taken master classes and musical improvement classes with Oman Kaminsky (Mexico), Pablo Garibay (Mexico) and Carlos Larrauri (Mexico). He has performed as a soloist in various places in the capital of the Mexican Republic, among which are the Sala Nezahualcóyotl and the Simón Bolívar Amphitheater of the National Autonomous University of Mexico; Sala Silvestre Revueltas of the OllinYoliztli Cultural Center, Xochipilli rooms, Huehuecóyotl and Audiovisuals of the National School of Music and Diego Rivera Mural Museum. He is part of the University Guitar Orchestra of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, under the direction of Carlos Martínez Larrauri.
